Lyle’s BBQ: Bourbon BBQ Sauce
Ingredients:
1) 2 Tbsp. Salted Butter
2) 1 Small sliced Yellow Onion
3) 6 Cloves Diced Garlic
4) 1 C. of Quality Bourbon
5) 6 C. of Ketchup
6) 2 C. of Water
7) 6 oz. of Tomato Paste
8) ½ C. of Apple Cider Vinegar
9) 2 Tbsp. of Hot Sauce -
10) ¼ C. of Worcestershire
11) 2 C. of Packed Brown Sugar
12) 1 tsp. of Red Pepper Flakes
13) 2 tsp. of Kosher Salt
14) 1 tsp. of Black Pepper
15) 1 tsp. of Nutmeg
16) 1 Tbsp. of Paprika
17) 1 tsp. of Cumin
18) 1 tsp. of All Spice
19) If too thick, add water as needed.
Directions
Medium heat, melt butter (#1), drop to med-low heat saute 1 sliced yellow onion (#2), after the onion is cooked, add diced garlic (#3) for 1-2 min.
Add rest of the ingredients (#4-#18) and stir.
Cook for 20 min and stir periodically.
Mix the sauce in a blender and store in an airtight container for up to 4-6 weeks.
Chef’s Note:
Adjust red pepper flakes and sugar to reach desired flavor profile.
